Profile
Jaylen Wells is one of the top shooters in the draft and when combined with his 6’8” frame, has led to one of the most intriguing prospects in this class. Wells has had an interesting journey to the NBA draft but the stark improvement has to be promising for his upside. His biggest strength is his catch-and-shoot ability, but the rest of his game is still pretty raw. When attacking closeouts this past season, Wells relied on runners and floaters more than you would like to see. These types of shots can be helpful as a last resort, but should not be relied on as much as Wells has. He has the body to develop into a plus defender, but at this point does not excel at much on the defensive end. If he is able to develop his understanding of defensive systems, Wells could become a prototypical 3&D wing.
