Asa Newell is a lengthy big man with explosive athleticism and great instincts. Whether he is elevating for tip-ins or timing an opponent for a block, he makes these reactionary tools seem easy. He is a promising jump-shooter and has looked effective throughout Georgia's preseason. As a lefty, Newell does not attempt shots with his right hands very often. It is easy to see that he lacks confidence going right, but should be fixed eventually. Newell also is a solid connective playmaker. The strongest aspect of his game is his ability to finish plays at the rim off of quick jumps.
