Johnny Furphy is one of the top “late-risers” in this draft class. Furphy did not get much run early on but was able to play his way into the starting line up and have a run of scoring in double digits in 10 out of 11 games in the back half of the season. He is definitely an off ball player which I think will translate well while trying to transition to the NBA. He is a great catch and shoot player, but also has capitalized well off of cuts and transition finishing. He has good size, but will definitely need to add strength. He is also an active rebounder and averages nearly 5 per game from effort alone. I feel like Furphy will need to round out his game in order to find a role in the NBA, but I would not be surprised if this took place sooner than expected. He has served a simplified role at Kansas and this should benefit him while playing a lower role early on in his NBA career.
