Profile
Izan Almansa is one of the younger players in the 2024 draft class and may have had his stock hurt by playing for the G League Ignite this season. Coming into this season, Almansa was one of the most accomplished non-professional player that we have seen in quite some time. Playing for the Ignite, Almansa had to take a back seat to other prospects and this really hurt his productivity. He has solid touch with both hands around the rim, but is not a great vertical athlete. Almansa does a good job of securing positioning on offense, but struggles to maintain it due to not having high level strength or length. He seems to be somewhat of a “tweener” at the NBA level. Shooting has been a non-factor for him in the G League and will need to either adjust his game to make-up for the lack of shooting or drastically rework his mechanics. On a brighter note, Almansa has been played out of his natural role and has shown glimpses of his passing ability without really being put into a position where he can do this on a more consistent basis. The “tweener” label also applies on defense. He will need to greatly improve his switchability to stick in the NBA.
